What should the students wear?

Dress up in nice clothes. This can be “Sunday clothes” or a “Nice family photo” outfit. You want to “dress to impress” so no ripped pants, jeans, shorts, t shirts, flip flops, sweats or dirty shoes. I recommend wearing nice, long black pants with a nice shirt. We do not have a color theme so any color is fine. Ladies, please make sure all dresses and skirts are at least knee length.

I don't own "nice" clothes! What should I do?

I recommend going to a local thrift store and purchasing long, black pants and a nice shirt for a few dollars. You can also use this outfit for future performances as well. I went to a thrift store and bought a whole concert outfit for $10 and this included the shirt, pants and shoes!

When I arrive at school, where do I go?

VVL and Oak Tree - Enter through the cafeteria.

Playa – enter through the doors behind the office, facing the south parking lot.

Students will line up in the hallway, outside the band classroom and wait until they are allowed to enter. 

 

Where does the family go?

Family members will take a seat in the Cafeteria and wait for the concert to begin.

 

When do I get my instrument and music?

At 6:50 pm Ms. Hayama will ask students to enter the band room, get their instrument and music, and line up again in a straight line so we can all go down to the cafeteria together.

Where will the students sit?

Your seat will be marked with your name tag.

What do I do when I sit down?

It’s important that you stay seated, in rest position.  It’s important that you wait patiently and quietly.  

 

What do I do when I’m not playing a song?

Sit quietly, in rest position.

​

What do I do at the end of the concert?

After your last song, all students will stand up and take a bow.  (don’t forget to smile!)

What do I do with my instrument after the concert?

Carefully WALK to the band room, put your instrument back in the case, and get your music binder.  Keep your instrument and music at the school. 

​

What time will the concert be over?

Approximately 7:20 pm

After the concert, enjoy a sweet treat! Go celebrate your accomplishment with ice cream afterwards!
